Christmas Holiday Blog Hop

I don’t know about you, but Christmas is my favorite time of year to make crafts!! I love traditional holiday decorating – and my home is all ready all decorated – I know it is only the day after Thanksgiving but my husband loves this time of year as much as I do!!

For today’s card I wanted to share the card that I thought of the minute I first saw the Holiday Catalog! The snowy woods, the picket fence and the rustic pick up truck just reminds me of Christmas used to be (at least in many parts of the country!) I knew I wanted to go all out and really showcase all of the elements so I made a three step card. This step card was inspired by Alex Bieicher on Pinterest.

Para la tarjeta de hoy quería compartir la tarjeta que pensé en el momento en que vi por primera vez el catálogo de vacaciones! Next after the card is folded, I used the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder run through on Thick Whisper White ( I did it twice but you only need ¼ sheet of paper). I used the Early Espresso Watercolor pencils to draw in all the dark lines of the birch tree and then used the Froste White Shimmer paint over the branches – what a difference right? Cut them out with your paper snips and set aside. The nice thing about the watercolor pencils is that they get blended a bit with the Shimmer paint and make it look super realistic.

On a second ¼ sheet of Thick Whisper White – you emboss again but this time before you run it though, you add Pool Party (lighter color first) and Night of Navy ink to the inside of the embossing folder. Try to get even coverage – but not to worry – you can go back in after with sponge daubers to dark some areas. Use the flat side and gently swipe. I did go through and clean the grooves a bit with another q-tip to keep the trunks as white as possible. Cut to 3.5” wide. After that dries add the watercolor pencil and Frost Shimmer White to the trunks. I did the same color technique with either side of the base.

Using the Farmhouse bundle – cut the fence from the Wood Textures Designer Series paper, stamp and cut the greeting on the same paper on the Big Shot. An Important Tip: Make sure you run the fence die Perpendicular to the turning handle (in the direction of the turn) – otherwise it doesn’t cut well. Stamp and cut the Truck, Wreath and Poppy Parade bows. I used the Stampin’ Blends marker to create the “paper” for the bows and to color the truck and wheels. I used Watercolor pencils for the tree and wreath.

Finally I used the stamp in the Farmhouse Bundle with the Frost White Shimmer paint to create snow falling and added more Frosted Shimmer Paint, Tombow glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the first two folds which had sseveral snow "mounds" from the same bundle
