Easter Sunday Egg Hunt Vertical Pocket Page

Hi, Pocket Page Scrappers! I have a sweet Easter Sunday layout today using the sweet March Take 10 Kits (Pocket Kit and Glam Bag) from The Studio 29 Designs, LLC. This month, when I got my kit, I had recent photos that I had printed from Persnickety Prints (love them). I distributed the cards with the best "spring feeling" pages and got to work on the first one, featuring some photos from April 2014 at our church Easter Egg Hunt.

I had not printed the April 2014 photos yet, though, so these were printed with my Canon Pixma. Scroll down to see what printer I use.  I just knew that a few of the cards in this kit really wanted to be paired with an egg hunt. Ha!

Sequins! They have been in the last few kits and I'm loving working with them. I got out my fine tip glue and tweezers. I love the scattered look, but this time I decided to try a more structured pattern. Keep in mind that you need to be lenient with making a pattern with sequins.

I kept the embellisments simple on this layout. I really like all the "white space" on the cards and wanted to keep it simple and clean. I picked a few of the PinkFresh Studio wooden embellishments that complimented those cards.

For the written title, I cut the end of my washi strip into a little flag. I learned that trick from an Amy Tan online class I took! (Scroll down find that class.) I added a little strip of white cardstock with the same little notch in the end and centered it on top of the washi to write my titles.

Are you using the March kit for any Easter themed pages? I'd love to see them.

Thanks,
Holly with Painted Ladies Journal.

Fresh Air and Snuggle Up: A few 6x12 Pocket Page Inserts

I used up the rest of my cards from the February Take 10 Kit by The Studio 29 Designs, LLC this month to create two 6x12 pocket page inserts. Both are very simple layouts, and I'm loving the crisp, clean look.

This was one of those first "warm" spring days last year. Everyone was happy to be outside playing.  You can still get the cards and stamp featured in this layout in the shop.

A simple way to switch things up with the same old pocket page is to put 2-3x4's in a 4x6 slot. That's all I did in this bottom pocket. I adhered that stamped "everyday life" with pop dots to add a little more interest.

Those white Studio Calico alphas are from my stash, as well as the coordinating Simple Stories gray label.

And here is my second 6x12 insert. I just adore this one!

I chose that colorful stripe card for a little journaling. (Hint: when you are unsure how the pen you are using will work on a slick card, try it out on the back first). I used a black Sharpie Pen here. Then, I centered a few of the word stickers and one washi strip from the Pink Paislee C'Est La Vie collection that was in the February glam bag.

That "snuggle up" thicker was from my stash. How perfect for my little snuggler. It's from Pink Paislee's Cedar Lane collection.

And for my bottom pocket, I cut that 6" strip from one of the kit cards to put on top of my photo. I paired it with some more of the washi and a word sticker.

Travel Scrapbooking with Amy Tan Class Review and Coordinating Supply Kit (on Sale!!)

I posted about this class review earlier this year. I wanted to share it again with you because I noticed they brought back a scrapbook supply kit that pairs with this class. And even better it's on sale! Along with all of their supplies and kits, through this Sunday, March 20, 2016.
I am an affiliate for Craftsy, but I personally purchased and loved this Amy Tan class! All links in this post are affiliate links.
Scroll down for the review about the class, Travel Scrapbooking With Amy Tan. I see a lot of items in the kit that she used in her class! So neat to be able to buy it in a kit. And it's on sale for $18.90!! That awesome stamp set is worth that price alone. Here is the kit (link below):

Original Blog Post Review:finished one of my 2016 goals today! (See all of my crafty goals in this post, here.) What better way to spend a cold , winter day when you are suffering from a sinus infection. I watched the last three lessons from this 7 lesson class  (with my hot tea and box of tissue).

It has been a few years since I have done a full 12x12 layout yet I still gleaned a lot of good tips and tricks from this class. I could watch Amy Tan scrapbook the day away. And I almost did!
Craftsy is an awesome resource for all sorts of crafty classes. And they have apps for your phone or tablet, which makes it super cozy for cuddling up with a warm beverage and snuggle blanket on the couch. Unless, you are trying to watercolor or paint along with the instructor. I don't advise attempting that from the couch. I'd probably accidentally drink the paint water....

The app is super slick. There is a button for a 30 second replay if you didn't quite catch something. There are several options for slowing down or speeding up the video. Amy Tan with a fast chimpmunk voice is always good fun!

Each lesson was divided into parts, so it was a easy to find any particular section again later. In this particular class, the two lessons on mini-albums and pocket pages were my favorite, but I loved them all. She always has a way of making me want the same tools she has! I immediately started applying some of the techniques I saw in my pocketpages.

Another neat feature of these classes is that you can interact with the instructor! Amy Tan will respond to your questions!
If you are an Amy Tan fangirl (who isn't?!), you will love her class on Craftsy.

Friends Pocket Page

Today's post is all about friends. We have friends from all parts of our lives and they make up a big part of our day-to-day happenings. This day was Martin Luther King Day, so all the kids were out of school. We invited some old friends to our home that we don't get to see every day.
Photo Credits (top right, middle left and bottom right): Melissa Leigh Hansen Photography

It's inevitable that you will document friends in your Project Life albums which makes this "friends" card from the February Take 10 Kit so useful! (the cards only are still available in that link. Go here to subscribe and never miss another kit!) I love the script font and simple design. I added a little tag from the cut-aparts and one of my stamped sentiments that was already waiting to be used (see more on that in this post about kit subscriber tips). Lastly, I sprinkled some sequins across the card.

For this bottom left photo, I balanced out the layout with a few more sequins around the stamped sentiment. And, I stacked some word art from the stickers and washi sets in the kit.

How did you use that unique tag wood veneer? I added a simple star clip (with glue dots) and another word sticker. Then, I adhered it to the journal card.

For the picture of the three adult friends (sometimes, or a lot of times, play dates are about who I want to see, too), I added the top half of one stamp to say "love these" and used some alphas from the December kit to spell out "girls". I used those same alphas to spell the date on top of another cut apart from the kit.

I hope you are enjoying your February Take 10 Kit as much as I am. Please share with me what you have been creating. I love seeing how unique everyone's layouts can be with the same kit.
