Project Life App roundup

I've been doing lots of catching up on my  Project Life for 2016 in the last week since Becky Higgins had a sale on her kits in the Project Life app. Don't know about the app, here is some additional
info on Becky's website.

The app is the handheld version of Becky's Project Life memory keeping system. You can make it as complicated or as simple as you like. Daily, weekly, monthly or event scrapping. Whatever is the most important for you to document- this system can help you- and you can include lots of pictures or stories.

I think part of the reason I've been so inspired is that I really took a look at some of the kits again with a fresh set of eyes. When the app updates come out- I somehow convince myself that I don't need that kit ... However at $.99, they were much easier to buy even for just a few cards that I love within a kit.

I am nearly a 100% Digi scrapper so I already use lots of tools to make using the PL App easier. I use Dropbox and lots of phone editing tools on my phone and editing tools on my laptop/ computer. I even got an Eye-Fi card recently ( I am still learning about this great tool to allow DSLR photos transferred directly on your phone or computer) to make my process easier.

I am fortunate to be on a few CT teams so I try to use photos that I want to scrap as part of my assignments, but that still leaves me with lots of photos and gaps in my documenting. I am not sweating a weekly format, but pretty much I end up with nearly a page or 2 a week.

So back to my new love of the app. The most recent update allows you to directly edit your photos in PicTapGo, an app by RadLab. It has been LIFE CHANGING - I know it seems an extreme statement but I love the ease of not having to move in and out of the app to edit photos. Plus my biggest pet peeve is photos that are
croocked. You can fix that in PicTapGo too!! Wow!! Now you really can complete a page while riding in a taxi or waiting at the airport. ( and even finish a blog post!)

So let me get started on sharing some of my recent goodies.

I often look at the primary photos I want to document and I pick a page protector from that. If I have few more pictures to include I use the collage function in the PL App to create a collage for one of the pockets. Her Design A and Project 52 2016 Edition by Amber LeBau with the Project 52 overlays.

Here is used Design A again but with a collage in the bottom left. To document our Scrapbook Expo day! Card kit is Currently edition by One Little Bird.

I actually went out on a limb and combined 2 kits with another Design A, ha! Inspire has the beautiful watercolors and Everyday edition by Liz Tamanaha has great black and white cards! I used Phonto to add the curved text and the title with a white background for the title.

Went back to an oldie but goodie using Cobalt edition cards and a photo collage. I used Photo here ( but you can use Rhona Designs and several others) to add text to your photos. One trick I use when the photo is too busy for my text to stand out is to use a very transparent grey box behind the text. All done in Phonto.

Love this page using Design U with the doors of San de Allende, a beautiful colonial town near Mexico City. I used just one card from the DIY Shop value kit and some great elements from Rhona Designs to add just the right touch to this page.  So many great photos and I was able to tell the story of our trips on other pages so this one really just needed photos!

Here to document pages from my sons graduation I used Capture Life kit and Squared Away 13 template. This kit has some great square card options which not all kits do. However one trick I learned is starting with a standard size,  say Design A for example or using a larger spot on your current template, and then you can then move a 4x6 or 3x4 card to that slot.
I also really liked how I was able to use my panoramic photo on both photo slots on the bottom of this template.

The newest app update has blank solid colored cards which match each kit. There are so many possibilities! You can use it to add additional journaling right in the PL App or Phonto or Rhonna Designs if you have a different font that you want to use. One of my favorite things that I have done as a scrapper is to have my handwriting turned into a font. It's a great way to document yourself in a lasting way- especially when you are a Digi scrapper!

Another great option for these blank cards is as a base for all the cool graphics and word art that are available in apps like Over and LetterGlow. I love some of the options out there. Why not take advantage of all the great designs out there by professional graphic designers to add a little sumpthing sumpthing to finish off your page.

I'll close this post up with a few more PL app page goodies to share! Hope you all have a great weekend - take lots of pics so that you can scrap them on your Phone!

May PL app Roundup

I've been sharing this month all of my Week in the Life pages that I completed using ready made digi templates from Just Jaimee (you can go here, here and here to catch up) and now I'd like to show another way that I can keep up with documenting my memories.  As I have older children (really adults now but I am not that old so I will still call them children...) and I work full time I decided that I would do Project Life in a more monthly format.  I have been loving using the Project Life app to do some quick pages but also because I am constantly on the go for work or traveling for work (or traveling in a car to go visit one of said children) so I have a lot of time pulling out my laptop is not so easy!

I love the ease of the app - and the ability to have access to my full library of journaling and filler cards - or not... Either way I have the photos in one place with stories is the most important..  This month the schedule was crazy!!!! so easy is the name of the game.  I do my writing in either Phonto or in PSE 11. When they are all done I run Wendyzine's action (Studio Wendy) which adds a small drop shadow and resizes for Shutterfly (Last year I printed 10 X 10 books and will continue the same this year. It is the best combination of size and ease of handling!).  I will be creating a blog post about my whole process with the app, but in the meantime I wanted to share these...

Using the Just Add Color kit from the app - wanted to really highlight these panoramic photos

Using the Ready, Set, Go Value card kit from the app

Using the Just Add Color kit from the app.. Here I did add the text in PSE 11 because I wanted to really pack in a lot of information...

I had an afternoon free on a business trip to DC so I got a little museum viewing in at my two favorite museums!!

They had the most amazing nature photography exhibit - I could have had 6 pages worth - I loved every single one.  Using the Happiness Is edition kit in the app - and here I did do the writing in the app itself, adjusting the line spacing to get the  alignment I wanted.

Documenting another work trip in February, also using the Happiness Edition - however you could never tell that it is the same kit. Here I did the journaling in Phonto.

A third page using Happiness Is edition in the app, text in PSE 11 using the color of the background paper.

Hope you enjoyed my round up and can see some of the versatility in the app.  I'll highlighting a few more pages - using some cards from other kits, whether digi edition cards from Project Life or other digital designers to show off how you can document your memories on the go!

Finishing up Photos & words WITL

Hi everyone it's Luly back with my weekend pics and words for Ali Edwards Wek in the Life. In case you have not been following along Ali runs this one week a year to really help everyone focus on your stories of everyday day life. This is my second year playing along and I have really loved the stories that these photos bring to mind. I am so so happy to play long. Here is more from Ali in her own words Week In the Life

On Saturday we had lots of errands to run and lots to catch up from a crazy week...

But first a little time checking emails, Facebook. I never sleep much past 6 am- usually 7am is a small miracle on the weekends so there is always a few minutes in the am. Definitely need to do some bookcase styling in this room!

We are supposed to meet one of our MAW girls today (we have 2 new ones this week) but it gets postponed until tomorrow. Yes my husband helps with the laundry - and no he does not fold clothes as soon as the dryer is done..and no I don't iron t-shirts as a rule!

Got to love Target shopping! Dollar section for some little gifts for our gals. Plus then of course a bunch of other stuff makes it into the cart!

I had seen the new personal sized planners from Michael's and I've been wanting to get that size, plus I have a 50% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket.

So of course since the nice gal at Michael's went into the back to find the whole line for me- I had to call my planner buddy Mary and see if she needed anything... She had already gotten her but was driving right by M's so she stopped by. My hubby came in to take our photo! Yes it was early in the am - and neither one of us had decided that make-up was a priority!

Lunch was delicious Chicago Italian Beef- my hubby reading the sports page- he could do this at every meal but it's not ok ususally. Since he had gone to Michael's with me I gave him a pass this time!

So excited to play with my new goodies!

In the afternoon I went to go take prom pics of all the girls for my friends that were out of town for their sons graduation. We've known these girls since kindergarten and it's crazy how quickly time has gone. The weather did not cooperate as you can see.

We did enjoy a really nice dinner with the youngest son at a local brew pub - they have like 60 beers on tap - a bit overwhelming to decide but they do let you have samples first thank goodness! We waited a bit to get seated so we just lounged a bit when we got home and watched a movie..

On Sunday, the day started as ususal for most weekends - checking computer, reading and lounging with the puppies

Here is Jack on Dad's lap

Sully doesn't quite fit but would like to!

After church we met our first MAW girl - as you can tell by her super sweet smile and adorable sweatshirt she wants to go to Disneyworld! Her little sister was even cuter - if that's even possible!

I made new wreathes for our front door and for my mother in law at the nursing home - she loves to see the changes through out the year, plus it gives her a visual clue!

This is hers - I always find recycled grapevines wreathes at the local thrift store in Dubuque so I am happy to make a bunch for her!

Here we are at stop #2 for MAW - another adorable young girl facing a life threatening illness.  We are so happy to help this fantastic organization and give back of our time. My children see that lesson too, but really we do it because these kids are so amazing  - and to see the smile on their faces and the joy that a wish brings is life changing!!

This is our typical Sunday night lounging - Jack loves to be close to my youngest.. or anybody that will cuddle with him - I finally got my lap dog!! My son and I watched a cheesy Nicholas Sparks movie on Netflix - the Best of Me - well maybe not the best movie but I love being able to share my love of chick flicks with someone in the house.

Thanks for tagging along - I'll be back at the end of the week with my completed pages to share with you...thank you again Ali for allowing us to focus on the importance of our every day life through Week in the Life
